We only made one drop and picked all day at a mix of shorts and keeper blackfish. Everyone caught fish and all but two caught keepers.
Striped bass Fishing Started out locally this morning but it was a nightmare with the traffic. Too many short fish to count but the action was the best we've had in several days.
Capt. Rob Semkewyc of the Sea Hunter at Atlantic Highlands saw the armada of trollers and boats chasing birds in Raritan Bay and decided to take a ride which put him into the best striper action of the year. Capt. Arthur Stokes caught two 34-to-36-inch stripers in a row on Tony Maja bunker spoons in 30 feet off Lavallette from Side Job out of Brielle, but saw only two others boated in a huge fleet Small stripers provided some action for surfcasters in many locations.
Today was without question the best day action wise that we had all year.We easily caught over 600 stripers. I know a few guys kept count and the average was 30 per man some guys caught over 50. There were not many keepers but the rods were bent all day. It was easy fishing.
I spoke with Captain Alan at 9 30 a. m. this morning and he said that we already have over 20 keeper stripers on the boat! When the wind came up it slowed down but overall it was a good day of striper fishing.
