Last week was another busy week on both Canyon Runner boats with 4 overnighters between them and another record mako for us to cap off the week. Fishing Tuesday-Wednesday with Capt. Deane Lambros at the helm of the 48 Viking with an open boat trip and Capt. Phil Dulanie at the helm of the 60 Ritchie with the Chris Durnam charter they saw excellent yellowfin action down in the Lindy with each boat catching right around 10 30-40 yellowfin.
Capt. Ron Sr. started it off with the first limit of the day, Hammer Tom had just under a two catch limit including a beautiful 8 pounder for the daily Pool. Polish Eddie, my bluefish king, tried his hand at fluke fishing today and put 4 nice fish in the box.
It took a bit for the bite to turn back on but once it did we had very nice fishing on every drift for the remainder of the day. Ended up with a few limits and a bunch of guys with three or four nice fish each.
Fishing was slow to start, did not find much to start but eventually we got dialed in and banged away at some nice sea bass and some nice ling were coming up in the mix as well. High hookd had 8 sea bass and 6 ling.
Nick Honachefsky said surf fluking in the Lavallette area has picked up as he's catching fluke to 20 inches on Gulp with a bucktail jig. I fished Point Pleasant Canal in the morning, and managed a 17-inch fluke on a Gulp Shrimp, though only a few other fluke and small blues were caught while I was there.
