Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing August 6 06 August 2016 Capt. Tom Made both morning and afternoon trips again today. At the end of the trip the drifting conditions improved and we picked at the shorts but only a few keepers.
August 6, 2016 8-6-16 What a difference a day makes, from the first drift we had keeper fluke coming over the rail, we continued to have a steady pick. Kirk from Cherry Hill N. J. had four keepers and Terry from Middleton N. J. three keepers, they had a split pool with fluke weighing 5 lbs 10 oz.
Once we got the change of tide and a nice drift the guys picked away at a nice mix of keepers and shorts until it was time to come home. The faster the drift got the better the fish began to bite.
You won't see John De Bona's name in the results, as we experienced poor fishing at several spots from Ambrose to Jamaica Bay We fished with David Schnall of Montville on his 28-foot Regulator from Gateway Marina in Highlands, along with Rich Dunn of Brick and Austin Perelli from Brooklyn. Very few fluke were coming into the Gateway Marina weigh-in, but the one at Jersey City had a late spurt with good fluke catches coming in from nearby areas in Hudson River -- which also produced an early doormat.
8-5-16 Nice day to start but not as good of a chew like we had yesterday, high hook did have 4 nice keepers but overall not as many keepers as yesterday to go around. but either way it was a nice day out.
