    The SEA STAR III fished only a few days this week due to weather and lack of passengers. The SEA STAR III will continue to try to sail DAILY at 9AM for a mixed bag of fish until October 18th when Sea Bass season opens again.

    The best news of the day came from the Queen Mary out of Point Pleasant as they had a good bite of big blues on both jigs and bait. Small blues on bait was the surf nrews from both Grumpy's and Betty Nick's in Seaside Park, and the latter weighed in it's first fall bass -- a 30-inch, 8 1 4-pounder by Tom Nolan of Ridgefield.

    Atlantic Highlands porgy fishing September 28 28 September 2014 Capt. Tom Made both morning and afternoon trips from the Atlantic Highlands marina today. The afternoon trip was a bit better than the morning trip but we caught fish on both trips.

    We fished a couple of different areas on the day and the guys were able to put together a catch of nice sized porgies although the guys had to pick through, and release, lots of keepers seabass in order to do it. Kevin Harding, Pearl River, NY, took the pool with a nice porgy.

    We got back to bottom fishing today,headed offshore and got into some decent fishing as soon as we dropped. Nice when everyone goes home with fish which is what happened today.

    Updated 09 28 14We had a shot of tuna at sunset and then again about an hour before sunrise, during the night we caught a few tuna and had a couple short Swordfish, we made a short drift after sunrise and caught two Longfin and some Tile fish. The catch was 176 Mahi (3 to 12 lbs), 18 Yellowfin (60 to 70 lbs), 11 Longfin (35 to 50 lbs), 2 Bigeye tuna (150 and 170 lbs), and 8 or 10 Tile fish.
