Many first worked rough bottom spots in Raritan Bay where porgies and tiny sea bass did a job on our sandworms. Yet, Many also released a 13 1 2-inch sea bass -- the first time I've seen one that large in shallow bay waters rather than in Ambrose Channel.

The start of a northeaster in the fall often results in a surf blitz, but that wasn't the case at Spring Lake this morning even though there had been good action with stripers the previous morning. The Jamaica from Brielle got in their 31-hour canyon trip from Tuesday to Wednesday and finally found a yellowfin tuna bite thanks to a report from Capt. Phil Dulanie of the Canyon Runner who was aboard a private boat into the tuna.
