We finally started catching them good the past two weeks, but it was a little too late as there weren't any big fish mixed in. All we can do now is hope for a good spring Striper run, and also hope the state doesn't screw us too bad.
They said the Berkeley Surf Club was holding its catch-and-release contest that was producing lots of shorts in the Island Beach State Park wash. Mark Roy tried to get out Friday with his Release Me from Raritan Marina, but the northeast wind even had Raritan Bay rolling and he finished out his season by trolling for awhile.
Some others also did very well,Joe and Kenny almost had a double limit of nice blackfish each, they were doing everything right today,I know they to busted off some pigs, and in the back Bobby and Willy had just about a limit each, some guys maybe one or two etc. but still some guys were not dialed in and struggled,it was not easy today with the way the boat was dipping and weaving.
A few of the hard cores, Barry, Danny and 88 year old Gene the fishin machine made it to the boat only to be dissapointed by the turnout. There is still hope for the future if the powers that be, get their heads out their ass and realize what they have done over the years, is nothing more than destroy a lifestile for hard working men who love what they do.
