Capt. Stan Zagleski reported much better fluking than on Friday, and with some limits on his Elaine B II from Bahrs in Highlands as conditions were good all day for fishing with no more than an 8-ounce sinker. Friday's trip also ended up with mackerel along with some sea bass, a keeper tog, and some pollock that came up in the slick -- including a 6-pounder for Steve Kirckhahn of Browns Mills.
Aug 13 2016 8 12 FLUKE NEXT OPEN BOAT TRIPS Tonight Saturday- 4pm to 8 30pm Sunday- 7 30am to 2 30pm 4pm to 8 30pm Monday Tuesday- 7 30am to 2 30pm 8 12- We have been fishing around Ambrose channel Chapel Hill the past couple of days. It has been cooler out on the water then on land and the past few day we have had no rain except a lite shower that lasts about 10 to 20 mins.
Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing August 12 12 August 2016 Capt. Tom Made both morning and afternoon trips again today. On the afternoon trip a lot of people stayed home ( I guess scared of the heat but we had a breeze) and the drifting conditions were ok but the fishing was not as good.
08 12 16 We went right back to where we had our good fishing on Thursday and found a few fish once again before the current slowed down. Unfortunately, even on the slack and change of tides the lines steamed away from the boat and the fish did not turn on well like we had hoped.
With only 28 boats able to fish on the last day of the White Marlin Open at Ocean City, Md., there were only two changes to the concluding leaderboard. As there were no second or third place white marlin, the winning 76.
Some spots are producing some nice fish while others are holding mostly shorts with a very odd keeper. we did a little ocean fishing in the channels in the beginning of the week and had very good action with mostly 16 to 17.
