Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing August 1 01 August 2016 Capt. Tom The weatherman kept a lot of people away again today but we made both morning and afternoon trips. We caught more fish in the afternoon but not as many keepers but on both trips everyone had fun catching.
AUGUST 1 ,2016 CHARTERED FRIDAY, 8 5 MORNING TRIP ONLY OPEN 1 30 PM TRIP It seems as though the weeks and months are flying by, just think, it is August 1 already. The highlight of Sunday's pm trip was young Ethan getting his first ever keeper fluke at a hefty 4 pounds and then sister Elli bringing in her first ever keeper fluke.
The unexpected gusty northeast wind put a big dent in morning fishing along the Shore, but Capt. Ron Santee said it worked out just fine in Raritan Bay as there were lots of keeper fluke on his Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands. That was quite a contrast to the Shore, Vinnie D'Anton and I were casting from the shore into Shark River as we watched the Big Mohawk from Belmar head out with a big Monday crowd of fluke anglers -- only to watch that large party boat return a half-hour later.
Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing July 31 31 July 2016 Capt. Tom Made both morning and afternoon trips again today. We had good drifting conditions in Raritan Bay and again everyone had fun catching fish but not everyone caught keepers.
