A few folks have called worried about a couple inches of snow so I thought I better post this. Keep in mind Atlantic City and all of south Jersey is only supposed to get ALL rain and maybe less than an inch of snow so shouldn't be a big deal.
It was drop and reel mayhem with multiple big fish coming up at a time, and before we knew it were limited out and everyone was sweating and breathing heavy!Big thanks to Irene from Harbor View for meeting us at the fuel dock to weigh some of these boys and girls in.
A few small red drum have been caught by striper anglers in the Shore surf since then, but last year I didn't get a single such report of a puppy drum from north of Cape May -- and I've never heard of even one of those average 25-pounders here. Party boats from N. Y. were catching vast numbers of sea bass off the Shore before the turn of the previous century, and it was around the time of the Yukon Gold Rush when pioneering N. J. skipper Henry Beebe tried a drift in deeper waters than he normally fished off the northern Shore and found incredible sea bass fishing on rough bottom that resulted in the area being dubbed the Klondike.

We have a local realtor that my friend Jimmy knows well in Jensen Beach lined up to show us some properties on our way back from the Keys in a few weeks. We left Jensen Beach and drove down to Ramrod Key where we are currently staying at another long time charter captain friend from Indian River, DE who owns the house but still resides full time up north, so we will be living good for the next few weeks with not only his beautiful house but he has a Hyrosport center consoles sitting on a lift in his back yard (on a canal) for our us to use whenever we desire!
Three personal bests were had today for Mark, Chip, and Traci had two personal bests catching a 12 pound fish and then beating it with a 14. While it is nice to limit out, this time of year in the area we are fishing the goal is more a quest for personal bests as there are some really beautiful fish on several spots if you fish hard and are lucky enough to be able to get him above the structure before he wins the battle!
Why were they allowed to do that when NJ was not New Jersey was forced into a region with Connecticut and New York. Another reason NJ was forced into regionalization was due to a disparity in the regulations in the Raritan Bay area where the commission deemed it was unfair for NJ anglers to have a 2 lower size limit than anglers from NY who were fishing in essentially the same waters.
