Blackfish is now OPEN Thursday, November 17, 2016 We had 6 good days of action with Seabass, Porgies, Blues, Blackfish, and Winter Flounder. Today was opening day of Blackfish season, limited to 6 fish a man, so we have crabs.
Fishing was slow but as the day went on we managed to catch about a dozen keepers and three keeper sea bass and of course on the very first wreck we catch a nice 20-inch fluke! If you're not sure about the weather, please go to Weather on our home page and hit Inshore Forecast.
Fished only two drops in the same area as yesterday to put a nice catch of quality togs in the coolers. GREAT weather the next couple of days and a number of guys who fished with us yesterday returning again tomorrow so come join them for some good fall fishing.
Capt. Rob Semkewyc said there seems to be more bait and more stripers in Raritan Bay every day -- and today anglers on his Sea Hunter from Atlantic Highlands also got their first good shot at jumbo blues in the bay. I checked the surf from Sea Girt to Bay Head this morning, but didn't cast as it was rough and off color.
We had some fishing in the morning, some of the guys picked at em and high hook had a limit of blackfish early with numerous shorts. In the end high hook had a limit plus numerous shorts, some 1,2,and 3,few had 4-5,some none.
