The Queen Mary from Point Pleasant had a good Monday Magic Hours trip with many fish up to 45 pounds. Up in the Delaware Bay we are hearing of a few keeper fluke around Miah Maul Light in the channel, but most of the fish are shorts.
When we left the dock and started heading out to the grounds we saw that we a few inbound and outbound ships coming before we even started to fish. Weather looks great tomorrow and hopefully there won't be any ships.
We had decent life with the fluke early, nice shots of fish coming to the guys bucktailing, alot of fish 17-18,few keepers here and there nothing special but when the south winds picked up it killed the action. gonna be nice next few days!!
Capt. Bud McArthur, of Splinter from Brick, checked out some local spots near Manasquan Inlet for fluke, but never found any -- possibly due to a water temperature down to 56 degrees at Sea Girt Reef, likely the result of the south winds. Water temperature was no problem at Monster Ledge, where it was 66 degrees and the south wind provided a good drift for Mark Roy on his Release Me along with his girl friend Yaping Jiang plus Jeff Sobin, both of Warren, and your reporter.
