12-26-14 Flat calm,really nice out there today,good to be back out after a break in the action for a few days. Alot of short bites today as well made it even harder,fish were hitting the bait and then just leaving it alone,alot of fish were also just nipping the baits off the hook and not giving you a good bite to swing at.
Today was an open boat Tog trip and did not know what to expect after the rain and the blow. Joe and Donald both managed to get 4 keepers a piece and everyone else had a few, it was a tough day overall.
December 26, 2014 Friday Yes, we will be fishing tomorrow, the weather is looking decent. Today Friday , fishing was not as active as other days, we had keepers come over the rail and some action from the short togs.
That, at least, provides hope that what used to be one of our most dependable species will make a comeback this winter. NOAA Weather gave a 44 degree reading today at Sandy Hook (where its taken on the bay side), after it had dropped to 39 degrees last week.

We are ailing again this weekend for Cod and Libg at 7am.
Many years ago I was fishing wrecks off Seaside with the late Capt. Greg Venturo for the early sea bass run in April when he started off keeping a small blackfish barely big enough to eat when there there were no regulations on the species. Capt. Bobby Bogan will also get in this last trips for sea bass this week on the Gambler from Point Pleasant.
