Tom Hollywood, Sr., Staten Island, NY had his best day of the season, limiting out early and taking the pool with a 7 pound 6 ounce beauty. Tom Hollywood, Jr., had three keepers of his own with the largest being 5 pounds 13 ounces.
Few keepers and some shorts,nothing special. Eventually it died down a bit and we moved deeper and had a drift with three keepers and shorts mixed in,a few 1 and two keeper drifts,still not good but better.
Bob Matthews, at Fisherman s Den in Belmar Marina, has seen some large fluke coming in on the party boats there, while his rental boat customers are catching lots of shorts in Shark River when weed isn t a problem along with a good shot at keepers up to 5 pounds. SOUTH JERSEY Jim Hutchinson Sr. reports for the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association that there are some keepers among the short fluke in the inlet plus small blues in the same area.
The Flounder have really been on the move over the past couple weeks and now we are starting to be able to rack up some impressive numbers on a lot of nice fish even in some less than favorable conditions. Perhaps it's just that the water has turned enough for these flatties to have emerged from the mud, or now you can actually keep a bait on the bottom longer, but several of the traditional spots have come alive in the Delaware Bay with Flounder just this past week.
