Dennis O'Brien, South Bound Brook, NJ, had fish to 7 pound 14 ounces. Palisades Kenny had a GREAT DAY for himself with a limit of four fish between 8 pounds 8 ounces and 11 pounds!!
Ran further along the beach, about a mile off, and deck hand Chris spotted birds 4 miles ahead. Set it on a drift in the midst of the fray, about a mile off the beach, and we started catching shorts, keepers and blues right away.
(JAN 1st) Today we ran an open boat Tog trip and it started off very tough with the first drop producing nothing but Dogs. (JAN 2ND) This A. M we ran our open boat Tog trip and got anchored up and it was slow there with just a few keepers and plenty of gray hounds.
Tomorrow will be our last trip for this season. We have both green and white crabs on board. Hope to see you for our last trip but if not have a safe and happy new year and we hope to see you in the spring.
January 2, 2016 1-2-16 Today, the morning started out with a pick at the togs, they were a little finicky you had to work at it to bring them over the rail. Posted by Captain Cal II at 11 56 AM Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest
The guys worked hard all day and ended up with a nice catch of quality fish to take home. Catches ranged up to limits with everyone taking at least a couple of nice fish home.
Then this morning there was a 12-pound bass that Wayne Kopsky of Howell caught on a white shad at Bay Head, and a 16 1 4-pounder by Matt Smith of Greenwich, N. Y on an SP Minnow in the park. The Bay Head surf was loaded with herring all morning, but Bob Correll of that town only saw one bass taken on a snagged herring while all lures were ignored.
