Allen Riley of South Plainfield tried plugging before daylight at Sea Bright, but only hooked small blues that then hit metal after daylight. Grumpy's Tackle in Seaside Park reports fluking in the surf is still good, and small blues are being caught on both mullet and metal.
Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing September 22 22 September 2014 Capt. Tom We have been making both morning and afternoon trips everyday from the Atlantic Highlands marina. We fished the channels in the bay due to the rough ocean the past few days.
I guess the winds scared most away,that and the big ground swell,I got to catch up on some surfing today,it was really nice out there,. Only till Saturday is fluke open so take advantage of the last week.
When conditions were right fishing was very good even caught some anchored, and when the drift and swells were too much fishing was tough. Better looking weather week coming up for the close of the season so we expect good fishing this last week.
6 lbs We were out on the morning trip today and had to fish down the beach as the bay was pretty nasty because of the NW wind. There was still a ground swell in the ocean but it did lay down from the past few days.

The SEA STAR III will now begin our Fall season for a mixed bag of fishes including Blues, Croakers, Kingfish, and Weakfish to name a few.
