Capt. Dave De Gennaro reports bonito are in seasonal form at Barnegat Ridge for trollers, with the only problem being all the small bluefish also feeding there on large quantities of small sand eels. Fluking has been a mixed bag, but Tank Matraxia of Lyndhurst was happy with what he experienced today at Sandy Hook Reef with Capt. Kevin Cole from Brown's in Keyport.
Oh yes, we had some decent days last week fishing, a lot of short fish, but some real nice keepers mixed in. 8-lber (nice to see you back, Mike), also Mike Villanova of Waretown, NJ took half of that money (Mike and Mike tied!)
High hook had a limit of fluke plus today,It slowed down a bit so we moved to a different area and late in the day we had good action again with some nice fish coming up. Nick had the high hook today with some nice fish!
September Flukemaster Classic Bill Reid, who on Friday landed the largest fluke of his life, weighing 8lb 1 oz., only two ounces short of the leader which was caught earlier that same day. Then came the second to last drift when we had a few very good shots of fish.
