Today was a little slower than it has been, however, it was still a good day. With Miss Belmar's 3 engines and a total of 2,100 horsepower, she is the first boat to the fishing grounds every day and we guarantee it.
Though there have been signs that the unprecedented mid-summer run of large striped bass in Raritan Bay may be dying out, there was still good fishing today for those who stuck it out. My last bass almost cleaned out a Shimano spinning outfit , and turned out to be a 33-pounder -- proving that some of those very large for the summer bass are still in the bay.

Today was not the fishing we have had recently with the overall number of keepers aboard but the high hook ended with four nice fish and several others each wound up with three nice fish in their coolers. Don Jaeger, Morris Plains, NJ, had three NICE fish including a 6 pound 2 ounce and a 6 pound fish and he took the pool.
We boxed a dozen keeper fluke to 5 pounds today, along with a handful of nice sea bass, too. TJ was the hot hand today, but everyone got some nice fish and we ended the trip with 21 keeper fluke in the box to 6 pounds and plenty of shorts mixed in to keep it very interesting.
Hammer Tom and Brother Gerry, Brett, Larry, Uncle Luna, Never quit Eddie, Scooter Scott, Rob Pags and Tom the Vet who also had today's pool fish at 8 pounds!!Amazing how most of the guys on-board today had read yesterdays post and still came out to fish, the comments made me feel like a million bucks!
