Tank Matraxia and Marty Gras from Lyndhurst got into bigger fluke offshore of Sandy Hook with Capt. Kevin Cole from Brown's in Keyport. Matraxia had four keepers up to 5 1 2 pounds, but lost the fish of the day when a fluke of about 8 pounds did a back flip when netted by Cole -- jumping out of the net and spitting the jig.
The afternoon was much better, a good amount of angler participation and much better fishing, with a ton of shorts providing a lot of action and some nice big fluke being landed. Sean took the afternoon pool.
Atlantic Highlands fluke fishing August 5 05 August 2014 Capt. Tom We have been making both morning and afternoon trips the past few days. Depending on the conditions the fishing has been the same on both trips.
Had a few shorts and a couple keepers where we finished up yesterday but it was not good. Ended the day where we finished yesterday and again had our best fishing of the day with a few shorts and a good shot of keepers for the time that we were there.
Not much in the way of movement early, fisihng was very dull, few keepers here and there but not many and not that many shorts either,A few nice sea bass here and there to,But overall slow for most of the gang onboard,up in the bow though high hook was Nick who did catch his limit of Fluke and split the pool fish with Sammy who had a couple of nice keepers,I think Sammy would of had his limit as well but pulled the hook on some nice fish on the other side of the bow,Pink shine and white colored grubs were the ticket for them. Any way,I like the forecast for tomorrow!!
