Lots of Bonito, blues and a nice mahi by Capt Ted White 7 September 2014 This past weekend we started off with a good fluke trip with the John Tsafos party, they had great action with the fluke and a good number of keepers up to 3 lb. Just before dark we anchored up and had great action on the 1-3lb blues and 3-5lb bonito on small jigs.
September 6th, 2014 Tonight, fishing was terrible with only a few blues being caught. Sailing daily for blues from 7 30 a. m. 2 30 p. m. and every Friday Saturday night from 7 30 p. m. 2 30 a. m. With Miss Belmar's 3 engines and a total of 2,100 horsepower, she is the first boat to the fishing grounds every day and we guarantee it.
Anglers fishing the surf at Island Beach State Park are enjoying the special zone created by the state that allows them to keep two fluke at a minimum of 16 inches. In Seaside Park, Betty Nick's Tackle had a video of Jon Velez with fluke of 4 1 4 and 5 pounds -- and he said he caught them among 30 fluke in the surf.
Finished the day back where we started after the current slowed and had a few more keepers to add to the coolers on the final drift of the day. Brad Weaver, Bound Brook, NJ, topped his catch with a 5 pound 5 ounce fish.
Up comes a beautiful 31 inch, 10 pound 4 ounce Pool winner, Moe's personal best along with the 3 keepers and a nice Sea Bass in the cooler. Unfortunately, Moe wasn't in the BIG POOL so Dan still has the lead at 9 pounds.
