LBI Fishing Report 7 13 2014 Fishing was pretty good again despite the 20 knot winds. It was good to Ted alves back in action he aslo had a couple of keepers, also BMB and Mrs. Clampers AKA Linda had 3 fish all over 3 lbs.
Bob Matthews, at Fisherman's Den in Belmar Marina, said party boats there are catching big fluke in the ocean, while anglers in his rental skiffs hook lots of short fluke in Shark River to boat a few keepers. Jim's Tackle in Cape May reports fluke fishing tailed off a little at the Cape May Reef, where it's mostly short fish with only a few keepers and most of the bigger fish are tight to structure.
Some bigger keepers, lots more throwbacks and good action as temps push into the sixties - hope it stays there with more south wind coming. Dan Weeks Trenton and Brian Phelder Washington, NJ had limits up to 5 lbs Pics are coming Hopefully the uptick in action will continue, it should if water temps hold Bucktailing has worked best when the drift has been slow but dragging baits better when the wind blows.
Today was no different with 3 fish topping the 7 pound mark. The pool fish went to young Dominick Marretta, Totowa, N. J. at 7 pounds 7 ounces followed by Tom Krako's 7 pound 5 ounce fish (second seven pound fish for Tom this week, only to be a Bridesmaid once again!!)
