Atlantic Highlands stripe bass fishing April 24 24 April 2015 Capt. Tom Made the 1 30 afternoon trip today from the Atlantic Highlands marina. This was the best trip of the stripe bass season for us so far.
4-23-15 Lots of wind today, but it was out of the west and the ocean was actually pretty decent. NIce day out and we had overall pretty good life on the bottom despite the past three days of a large swell offshore. Loads of bites as soon as you got down,,the perch were frisky to say the least,,in between you weeded through and we had quite a few codfish come over the rail,,alot of them were small but we also had some nice fish as you can see in the pics below,we even busted off some slobs that we never got out of the rocks, gonna have to work on that tomorrow!!!We also had quite a few pollocks,,both large and small, some blackfish again,,handful of ling. decent day I thought,,look forward to getting back out tomorrow,,we are fishing!!
Since the NMFisheries wont let us fish for sea bass until May 26 (my mistake on the last report), which is the Tuesday after the holiday weekend, on the Memorial weekend, (Sat and Sunday only), we will be fishing for stripers and or blues. This Saturday and Sunday will be the last trip until May 27 (the opening of sea bass season).
A pick of shorts with some keepers mixed in. .Hung in there till the change of tide when the bigger fish bit yesterday, didn't catch the big ones but we did manage a couple more keepers and a bunch of shorts in overtime. Windy tomorrow again but we will be shaping up. Dan starts night fishing tomorrow night 6 30pm till 11 30pm. Capt.
