Fished the same areas that we have been recently and had NICE fish on just about every drift most of the day. Mike Scher, Cranford, NJ, was happy with his catch that included a 5 pound 4 ounce fish and the 9 pound 2 ounce pool winner!!
Sammy who won the pool yesterday was back today and had his limit of nice fluke by 9 30 this morning. We had others with limits as well, most of the notable catches were all on the jigs, nuclear chicken gulps or glo squidos worked the best today.
Yesterday the bait draggers did better and today the buck tails, had most of the keeper fluke. We had plenty of life with the short fluke all around the boat, and in the mix were some keepers on each drift.
There should be plenty of weigh-ins during the second day of the Beach Haven Marlin Tuna Club's White Marlin Invitational as only 10 boats fished the first day while over four times as many headed offshore today. The first boat to weigh in today after the scales opened at 4 30 was Martuni with yellowfin tuna of 61.
