Short Seabass Season wrap-up/reports Details Created on Wednesday, 21 June 2017 23:23 Written by Capt. Ron We had a fantastic seabass season. Most trips we were able to limit the boat out. Tons of action even with shorts, but the season quickly ended which is a shame and just wrong, so now we're on to Tuna, Ling/cod/flounder, and fluke. we have every picture on our facebook page. a few stripers here and there and a lot of quality seabass, especially right as the season closed.   Seabass reports: 6/3 -  Saturday boat limit of Seabass Had another great crew out for the unbelievable seabass fishing. Started out with a lot of shorts mixed with some keepers. Made some moves and found better quality keepers and more of them. Slowed and moved a bunch. The early afternoon slowed down a lot and took us a while to get the last few fish but we did manage and were in early. Couple ling and one short Blackfish (released) in the mix as well   6/4 -  SUNDAY EARLY BOAT LIMIT. Had much much better fishing today. A bunch of the guys really wanted bass so we made sure to keep an extra eye out. On the way to the grounds we spotted some scattered bunker jumping. Jr snagged one real quick and as quick as he snagged one a bass jumped on. Beatriz Soto had the honors of reeling the 30lber in. But as soon as the bass was landed the bunker scattered. Tried chasing them but they were too thin and ghostly. Hit the seabass spot and it was game on. Had tons of double header keepers today and better quality than yesterday as well. No ling today but had tons of porgys already which is good to see. Got our limit early and tried searching for the bass again. Tons of bunker pods all over but no bass underneath.   6/8 - Today we had Todd and his crew for seabass. Once again nobody was disappointed. Had a lot of first time fishermen on the boat but once they got the hang of it they were dialed in and everyone put on a clinic to get our boat limit. Gulp also worked well today.   6/10 -  Saturday bass report: Had out jim and his sons on a really nice day. Guys really wanted bass so we said we'd give it a shot. Left the dock early in search of bait and found none. We eventually started to troll. Had some marks but not many. Had one hit the spoon and another ran for about 10 seconds but never saw any of them. Guys decided to switch over to seabass for a couple hours. For first timers they did real well and put a bunch in the cooler to take home. On the way in we found some bait so we gave it one more shot. Snagged a bunch of bunker, had one bass on for a couple minutes and then spit the hook. Glad the guys had a good time despite going 0/3 on bass   6/11 -  Sunday seabass report: Had Steve and his family out for his birthday trip. Hit a lot of different areas trying to get away from the shorts. Tried driving and anchoring to see if there would be a difference with the keepers. Definitely was a grind trying to hook the big ones. Didn't get our limit today but everyone still had a good time and hopefully Monday is a little better for us   6/12 -  Monday early boat limit: Today we had out Jeff Mari Ginni and bob. Headed to a different area than yesterday and it was lights out as soon as we stopped. Both bait and jigs worked very well, and towards the end jigs were the best. Had our boat limit just before 830 and gave the crew some options. Decided to hunt for bass. Had a ton of readings but no takers so we headed in a little early.   6/17 -  Saturday early boat limit: Today we had out Carl and his crew for our final seabass trip of this very short season. It was one stop shopping today as we loaded the box with all jumbo seabass - definitely the best quality we've had this year. Finished up around 930 and then went searching for a new wreck and prospected it for a while hoping for some ling, instead found more seabass. Headed in early and took a slow ride in with the pea soup fog. We will be fishing for ling/cod/flounder next Saturday 6/24 with 4 open spots We also have 2 spots open 6/27 for tuna 7328415041
