Full December blackfish reports Details Created on Sunday, 31 December 2017 22:05 Written by Capt. Ron fishing has been mediocre at best this season. Definitely the slowest season we've ever seen. Some days are better than others and we've been lucky to get a few fish over 10lbs. we have been fishing north, south, and east of shark river and fishing is about the same everywhere. Lately fishing has been better on rigs and jigs not producing.   12/29 - 12/30 Friday and Saturday Blackfish reports to 10lbs Friday was uneventful. Practically no life anywhere a short here and there and ended up with 1 lone keeper for the day. Saturday was a lot better. Had stans Charter today and After a couple drops the life got better. Good amount of shorts and keepers as well. Ended up with 15 keepers back at the dock. Stan’s son mike got his PB today 10.13lbs and released her. Also had an 8 and 7 on the boat and lost a few good fish. We have openings for the month of January give us a call. 7328415041   12/27 Wednesday blackfish to 11lbs Well it was another grind out there today, pretty much sums up the season so far. Bitter cold out too with ice in the guides. Guys toughed it out and managed 10 keepers to Mikes pb a 11.3lber and lost a slob after that. Also had a 9lber on the boat. Not many shorts today either.     12/24  Christmas Eve blackfish report: Had a decent day of fishing today. Had some good action all day with a good amount of shorts and some keepers. The crew managed 12 keepers before we called it early due to weather. Definitely could have had more if weather didn’t pick up. Hope everyone has a merry Christmas.     12/17  Sunday blackfish report: Day started out okay with some decent conditions and fish right away. Tried new areas again today to try and find some pockets of fish. Matt was a first time jigger and his very first fish was a 8.5lber! Nice job. Eventually the action died and it was sluggish the rest of the day. Conditions went to crap too and could only put out 1 anchor and had to keep motoring the boat back. The 5 man crew ended up with 9 in the box.     12/16  Saturday blackfish: Well it sure was a cold one out there. Had one guy bail last minute because he thought it was too windy. Wasn’t as bad as what they were calling for. Had some life but still not what it should be. Also couldn’t Head in until Melissa had her limit, which of course she got! Ended the day with 18keepers for the small crew we had. Back at it tomorrow.     12/8  Friday Blackfish: Had joe tuna tales out with Brian chuck Charlie Eric and Brian. We had decent life today. A lot of shorts just a few dogs and a keeper here and there. Stayed on one spot most of the day because we were content with the action and didn’t want to chance losing it. It finally died so we hit another piece and had some good action again able to box up 20 keepers and a few porgies with a lot of missed fish. Jigs worked well early but it seems like the bait rigs worked better in the afternoon. Still hoping it improves soon shouldn’t be this slow this time of year.
