Captain's Focus

The Jamaica from Brielle reported more tuna bites during Friday nights trip, but better catching on Saturday night. After getting several bites from tuna readings under the boat during Friday night, there was a shot of yellowfins and a few albacore just before daybreak. Pat Brennan of Brick boated two yellowfins, and Matt Bukowski of Heightstown jigged two on a 7-ounce chrome PBJ jig. Both the Miss Belmar Princess and the Golden Eagle from Belmar had good action on bait with jumbo blues up to 20 pounds in the Mud Hole area. The Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands had picky porgy fishing, and will switch to stripers on Wednesday. The Sea Hunter from that port barely had enough anglers to sail, but ended up with some keeper stripers. Dr. Dave Catalane flew in from Pittsburgh with his son Dave and Ed Sattelly from that city to fish on his Boston Whaler from Manasquan. I joined them for an experimental trip to the south where we found some schools of adult bunkers. There were no hits on snagged bunkers during a brief attempt as it soon turned into a sightseeing trip when a big whale escorted by small dolphins was spotted in just 38 feet off Seaside Park, and they followed it around while taking video for the folks back in Pittsburgh to see. A big ocean sunfish was another photo opportunity. We ended up trolling bunker spoons before an early return. There were no hits, but baitballs large enough to blank out the fishfinder were common. 125' Jamaica Now BookingCanyon Tuna and Offshore Wreck Trips   For a Complete Schedule Go to: www.bigjamaica.com       Cl CanyonTuna.com BigJamaica.com BigSeabass.com     The Big Jamaica is scheduled to sail to the canyon regularly through the first week of November.
