2010-04-19 - A Windy Islamorada Fishing Report
Wind, wind and more wind this week in Islamorada!! The first part of the week was real slow for us with no trips, however as the week went on we were able to get out. We fished mostly in 20mph winds out of the NE and gusty. Being spring break we still have quite a few kids still down here and boy did they have a blast the last few days.

That’s Right fished with family groups and thank goodness the fish were hungry. We had great catches of Yellowtail Snappers, a hand full of nice Mangrove Snappers, some Porgies and an assortment of Mackerels. On Saturday I fished my buddy Collin O’Neil from Pompanette. He came down with a bunch of kids and their fathers and the trip was a blast. We had to fight off the wind and rain but when the day was over we had a box full of Snappers!! Capt Clyde managed to do some flats fishing and found himself in the midst of a great Bonefish bite…finally!! On Tuesday he released nine that were up to 10lbs and on Wednesday another seven were released! Great fishing, all caught on light tackle with the bait of choice being live shrimp and little quarter size Crabs. He did manage to get out on the Pretty Work on Thursday and found a real nice catch of King Mack’s up to 25 pounds…bait of choice Cigar Minnows.

We are getting ready for our Dolphin season to start and looking forward to trying more Swordfishing too. The outlook is good! I look forward to this time of year. With better weather we should have a great spring with lots of fish. Also, we have several more Tortugas trips coming up so standby for those reports. If YOU are interested or have been thinking about one of these trips now is the time. I have a few spots left open for the Moon at the end of May so give me a shout. We’d love to get you down there as the Mutton bite should be CRAZY then!! Remember, after That’s Rights leaves for Ocean City the Pretty Work will be here year round so come on down and we’ll get u some!!
