Ocean City, MD Fishing Report

WMO was a great time for us this week! We didn’t win anything but had lots of fun! The guys went 3 for 15 learning how to do it themselves; needless to say they told me at the end of the week that they very humbled. The bar was set very high right off the bat with a 249 tuna. And on Tuesday the big Whitey’s showed up and then the GRAND DADDY of a Blue Marlin,1069lb’s,WOW!!! She was some fish, first one ever off of Ocean City.

Anyhow Saturday we went back to charter fishing, tough day with just one 60lb Yellowfin and several nice gaffer Dolphin. Hopefully we have lots of great stuff for you this coming week.

Check out Captain John's audio report... August 8 - 2 for 15 White Marlin in WMO, today yellowfin & dolphin bite

New Jersey Fishing Report

Whew! What a week and I am glad to say  it’s  over! We started this week fishing the White Marlin Open and planned on fishing for  bluefin  as we have been dialed in on them fishing around the Lobster Claw. Well, day one saw two  bigeyes  hit the scale and we were  not wondering  what to do. On Tuesday I decided to look for the eyeballs in 300 fathoms of the Wilmington. Well, we only had one bite; it was the right one but never came  tight.  The water was pretty with lots of bait and whales, but no real break in the water. Water temp was in the 78 degree range. On Thursday we opted for  bluefin  fishing and trolled around Lemke Canyon and the Claw without a touch. Friday we chunked the claw and never had a touch. It seemed the bite there was from 5 to 7:30 in the morning as we saw people hooked up when we arrived but we could not have lines in till 8:30.

This week we have a busy week with the start of the Overnight Billfish  Tourny  and a couple inshore  trips.  Looking forward to getting back on the meat.

Tight Lines All!!!

We Fished a 16 hr day trip hooking two bluefin in the 65" range, one on a jig which came unbuttoned after 10 minutes and hooked one shortly after on a chunk bait. We fought for two hours and had it to the boat 2x's, approximately 65", then the hook pulled. It happens! The charter was happy to see and fight it. We had a great group on the boat as they kept a positive attitude. We went on the troll and caught two Mahi, one 20lb female and one smaller one. It looked like the bluefin bite was over. We then ran 18 miles to look for some Yellowfin. We put our spread out and a 50 lb yellowfin exploded on our spreader bar and we caught him. We continued to troll and had good yellowfin action! They were coming up five or six at once and short biting our ballyhoo. We boated a real nice White Marlin in between the tuna bites which gave us a few nice head shakes during the fight. We then boated two yellowfin, then a monster Blue Marlin blew up on our long rigger! It didn't come tight; missed the hook. When we reeled in our last Yellowfin we had two whites in the spread. We ran out of time as I had to leave. If we had given more time in this area we would have crushed em. We fished there for about 2.5 hours and left them biting.
