2008-09-07 - Maryland and New Jersey Weekly Fishing Report
Maryland and New Jersey Fishing Report This week, was one of mixed results. We had some incredible fishing on certain days, while experiencing slow fishing on others. Some of the highlights of the week were an â??off the hookâ? White Marlin Bite going on in both the Norfolk and Wilmington Canyons. Double digit sightings were the norm, with as many as 30 fish being seen on the best days. Mixed in with the Billfish were dolphin and a few Wahoo as well. Inshore the Bluefin Bite was red hot on some days and luke warm on others. On one day, youâ??d go out and catch all the 100 to 200 pound Bluefin you wanted, and on the next day, on the exact same numbers, youâ??d struggle to catch 2 or 3. The best bite continued to be on the Lobster Claw, although fish were being found both inside the Claw and in the Elephant Trunk as well. Further to the south, the Hot Dog was the place to be if you wanted to catch Yellowfin. These were the smaller fish, but they were Yellowfin none the less. By the end of the week, however, the Yellowfin bite had all but shut down on the Dog, as the water had shifted yet again. Probably the best news of the week was a late report from the Northern Canyons of an excellent overnight Yellowfin bite. These were larger fish in the 50 to 60 pound range with some 80-120 pound fish mixed in. This is what weâ??ve all been waiting for, and our boats will be out there after them all week, as soon as the weather clears. Tight Lines, Over Under Adventures Winter Bahamas â??
