BIG Bluefin Tuna Bite Plus a White Marlin and a box of Dolphin!
Today we fished just a touch above the Hot Dog to the center of the Hot Dog. Water temp was 78 degrees and at times it was a touch of blue but mostly clean green. We had one downrigger bite which produced a 60 inch BFT. We also had one drifter bite which produced a 68 incher, which was released. The surprise bite of the day came about 10ish when a 55 lb. white marlin jumped on the right long rigger as our mate Anthony Frascatore dropped back to the white to produce a sterling hook-up. After a half dozen jumps, we had a safe release. Shortly thereafter, we had a way back bite which produced another 160 lb. BFT. While this fight was going on, Super Mate Anthony Frascatore was right on his game and dropped a jig down to 70 feet and the next thing we knew we were hooked up. After releasing the big bluefin, we proceeded to fight the jig bite for an hour and a half, thinking we had a monster BFT on the line. However, the monster BFT turned into a 300+ lb. tiger shark, which we safely released. Throughout the day, a half dozen dolphin were caught. Thinking that this day was fantastic enought, it wasn't quite over yet. The next thing we knew we had two, Volkswagon size explosions on our way backs which turned into a single 72-inch, 190 lb. bluefin which which was masterfully gaffed by supermate Anthony Frascatore.
