BLUEFIN TUNA BITE IS IN FULL SWING!

BLUEFIN TUNA FISHING IS RED HOT- Avalon, NJ & Ocean City Maryland Sportfishing: The Bluefin Tuna bite is very good right now. The fish are fairly close and we are only have to run 30 to 40 miles to get on them. The fish range from 50 to 130 pounds with average being about 80 pounds. These are very nice sized fish, and super fun to catch. To date, we have been trolling, which has been very effective, and we have not had to go on the chunk for them. Other boats, that have opted to go on the chunk are doing very well also. The fish are reachable out of either NJ or MD right now. As always, the run out of Ocean City, MD is a bit shorter, and we can fish spots to the south of MD, whcih are holding some of the larger fish(100 to 150 pounds). The larger fish should be moving up directly off the MD and NJ coast over the next week, just in time for the Ocean City and Cape May Tuna Tournaments, which will both be held over the next two weekends.

Inshore the Bluefish bite continues to be very good on our shorter, 8 hour and 5 hour trips. Mixed in with the Blues are Bonito, and some Mackeral as well. We can now reach the Bluefin out of Ocean City, MD on a 10 hour trip, so this is a cost effective way to go catch a whole bunch of tuna right now. The limit is only 2 per boat, but you can catch and release them until your arms say stop! This is a new trip for us in Ocean City, MD, and with the rising fuel costs, we are doing everything we can to pass savings along when we can find ways to catch more fish using less fuel.
