Ocean City Fishing Report

NEW FOR 2008 - Over Under Adventures Boats are docked at FISHERMAN'S MARINA in Ocean City, MD!

Capt. John had THATS RIGHT out for its first Ocean City Fishing trip of the season. We took had a large group out for a Bachelor Party, and seemed Bluefish was the targeted species on this outing. The Blues are a bit further offshore right now, but there are plenty around. They about filled the boat with them, caught all they wanted and released many more. The second outing of the week was a shark trip, which again had the rods bending most of the day. Capt. John reported releasing about 12 Blue Sharks and a small Mako, estimated about 80 pounds. They were fishing over a wreck just offshore of the Jack Spot. Sounds like the conditions are just about right for Shark Fishing to bust wide open over the next two weeks. Next weekend is the first of two Shark Tournaments we'll be fishing.

Capt. Randy is settled into Pirates Cove with PRETTY WORK, fishing out of Oregon Inlet. Randy has been fishing out of Oregon Inlet, North Carolina for 13 years and just recently joined the OUA Team. Here's his accounting of their first 3 days on the water this past week:
Having completed our first three days of fishing here we are off to a good start. On Saturday we got a half dozen yellowfin tunas and one gaffer dolphin. Sunday was a very slow day for the whole fleet. We managed two gaffers. There was a very early morning bite of Big Eyes that if you were lucky enough to be there first crack we might have hooked a few. Three boats were, however, we were not one of them. Monday was a good day with 12 gaffers including one 38 pound citation and one yellowfin in the 50?s. Our charter today wanted meat (168 pounds to be exact) even though the marlin bite down the road was going off. Today alone several boats caught multiple blue marlin, white marlin, and sailfish. All that fishing was from the 280 Rock Pile to the 900 line. So that water is pushing its way here and we expect some awesome Bill fishing to come in the next week.

Bahamas Fishing Report

After a brief lull in the Bahamas Offshore Fishing Action, things picked right back up towards the end of last week, as the Blue Marlin got hungry again, with tuna, dolphin and wahoo to pass the time in-between bites. Here's a couple first hand accountings from Capt. Joe, as well as a nice shot of one of the Blue Marlin they released.

Had the Low Profile back out again in San Sal the last 2 days with good results. As we suspected the blow 3 or 4 days ago got the fish going again . Yesterday we saw a white and a blue jumping off the white and catching the blue estimated at 175 lbs. The dolphin remain consistent with catching about a half dozen per day. Today got into the dolphin action right off the bat. Shortly after we had a great blue marlin bite that put on a great show jumping off shortly after. 20 minutes later we came tight on a nice blue that we released shortly after estimated at 270. It seems all of the boats fishing are seeing at least one a day with 2 being the norm. After we got back from traveling the out islands we have settled back again in San Sal. We have now started fishing the south end of the island (Sandy Point)... this is typically where we get out best blue marlin action. Back at it Friday and looking forward to coming on the best blue marlin action of the year.

Had the Low Profile out again in San Salvador with fishing remaining very good. We started off with a good blue marlin bite right off the bat that never came tight. Shortly after we decided to move off Sandy Point and move to the South-East Point of San Salvador. We found some birds there and caught some nice yellowfin tunas getting some of them past the sharks. We also caught a nice late season wahoo. We then headed back to the same area where we have caught blue marlins in the past couple of days and came tight on a nice blue marlin and released it shortly thereafter. It seems we are coming to the height of marlin season as we have seen multiples the last couple days.
