Islamorada & Bahamas Fishing Reports

San Salvador Fishing

Looks like we are finally getting the fishing we are used to over in San Salvador. From what is sounded like, this was probably the best week of the year thus far. Everything seemed to fall into place this past week as we are into the backside of the moon and had a significant front pass through the region. These two things coupled with the typical migration of dolphin and tuna that occurs at the end of March and early April every year in the South East Bahamas. Basically, everything was right this past week and the fishing was much improved as a result. Our anglers endured some rough conditions and put some great mixed bag catches together. Dolphin to 52 pounds were around in good numbers and there were plenty of wahoo bites to be had as well. Some really nice tuna are around now with fish in the 60's coming aboard late last week. Islamorada Fishing Report

Both Pretty Work and That's Right were pounding it out in Islamorada this week, putting together nice catches of Yellowtail Snapper and King Mackerel. Offshore the boats that are getting out are finding the Blackfin Tuna on the humps about 10-15 miles offshore, along with a scattering of early dolphin. The Mackerel bite seems to be the hottest thing going right now though. If you can find yourself some Cigar Minnows in the early morning, you should be able to put together a nice catch of the Kings. The best action has been south of Alligator Light for both the Tails and Mackerel. Over the next week, the Dolphin fishing in the Keys should pick right up, in line with what happened in the Bahamas this past week. To listen to Capt. Randy's play by play from his fishing days this week, check out the link below to his daily fishing report.
