2007-06-10 - Great Week of Fishing in Ocean City Maryland, Florida Keys, and Bahamas

Starting with our Florida Keys Fishing Report, the Pretty Work ran it's last trips for the season out of Bud n Mary's Marina in Islamorada, Florida this week. This finished up another great year of Florida Keys Fishing, with the Dolphin Fishing in high gear. All the schoolie dolhpin you want our here in the Florida Keys right now, with big fish around under the birds and debris. Tomorrow, the Pretty Work heads north to join THATS RIGHT and JUSTIFIED, Fishing out of the Ocean City Fishing Center. Look for PRETTY WORK to be fishing starting in about a week for Tuna as the Bluefin Bite turns on off the Delmarva Coast.

Over in the Bahamas, Fishing at San Salvador, the LOW PROFILE is finishing up its season next week, with the Blue Marlin bite in full swing. We are getting a couple shots a day on average, and the best of the fishing to date continues to be at San Salvador. Yesterday, the LP was 1-2 on Blue Marlin and 1-2 on White Marlin, adding a couple dolphin and a stray wahoo to the box for dinner. The yellowfin tuna bite is sporadic, as the fish are mostly traveling this time of year. When you find them, they are typically out in the deep, which means they are usually "shark free" and you can get them to the boat. The tuna continue to be nice for the Bahamas, averaging about 50 to 60#.

Up in Ocean City Maryland Fishing, is the JUSTIFIED and our newest boat, THATS RIGHT. The Shark Fishing is on FIRE! Capt. Todd on the Justified has caught a mako on every trip this week, totaling 10 for his last 3 trips. The highlight of the week was an estimated 800# Thresher Shark, that was battled for 3.5 hours, before eventually being lost boatside. THATS RIGHT also ran a couple of shark trips, doing nicely boating a 140# Mako and releasing several other sharks. On Saturday's trip Capt. DJ ran THATS RIGHT offshore on its first Tuna Charter of the season, looking for an early Bluefin Tuna Bite. In about 50 fathoms, they found what they were looking for, going 5-6 on Bluefin Tuna to 60#. This is great news for all you tuna fisherman out there..THE BLUEFIN ARE HERE! In case you've missed previous reports, THATS RIGHT is fully USCG Inpsected to take up to 13 Passengers up to 100 miles offshore. If you have a group of MORE THAN 6, we CAN take you!

It's been an all around great week of fishing, as we wind up our Bahamas and Florida Keys Seasons on a high note, and begin to shift into high gear up off New Jersey and Maryland. Starting July 1st, we will have 3 boats fishing in Ocean City, Maryland for the rest of the summer and fall tuna season, and the Low Profile will be up in Avalon, New Jersey fishing for Tuna in another week or so. We are now beginning to run overnight tuna and shark trips, letting us get in on the good daytime Tuna Fishing and concentrating on Shark and Swordfishing at night, until the Yellowfin show up later this month.
