Over Under - Viewing Report 2007-03-25 - North Carolina, Bahamas, Florida Keys Fishing Report Fishing in the Florida Keys was dominated by windy conditions most of the week, making things difficult. The best of the fishing was right on the reef with nice Yellowtail Snapper continuing to be caught. Just inside the reef, on the patches, we were able to troll up some keeper grouper and Mutton Snapper as well. When you can get offshore of the reef, the dolphin seem to be making their way into the area. Over in San Salvador Bahamas, we've had some pretty good fishing, although it has been windy there as well. A nice mix of Yellowfin, Dolphin, and Wahoo are being caught. The main wahoo bite seems to be on its way out, as most of the fish are now in the 40-50 pound range and we are getting a couple bites a day. The dolphin continue to be strong and the yellowfin are beginning to take up the slack, making for an all round great mix of action. The tuna are going 40-65#, so there are nice sized fish. Up in North Carolina, the bite is RED HOT! When conditions allow, boats are catching limits of 40-60# yellowfin, with 80-200# bluefin mixed in here and there. The action is only about 25 miles off the beach, and the morning has been the hot bite, allowing boats to be back to the dock by noon on most days. We begin fishing out of Wanchese, NC next week, which is just across from Nags Head, and running out of Oregon Inlet.
