Captain's Focus

2006-09-04 - Big Bluefin Before the Blow, Yellowfin, Mahi & Wahoo after....
Both our boats had a couple days off early in the week, but Capt. John got one last trip in before the blow set in and got right back on the fish. The troll bite continues to produce as they boated 5 yellowfin and 2 bluefin. The also released a 3rd bluefin. Nice thing was that the bluefin were BIG. The biggest went 68" and weighed about 160#, while the other was about 140#. Ballyhoo and Bars were the ticket... As we move into September the OVER UNDER will be mostly overnighting, while the PRETTY WORK will run mostly day trips utill we depart in mid to late October. Our open boat schedule has filled in nicely, but we still have a few spots left to fill on our regularly scheduled wed/thur trips...just check out our web-site for the latest openings. OpenDates Just a quick one..had both the Over Under and Pretty Work back out working together again Sunday, on a pair of day trips. We started in 30 fathoms, and ended up working out to about 75. In the morning the OU caught a pair of short bluefin which were released, then bagged a 30 pound wahoo. The PW nailed a double header 70# class wahoo, then picked up a nice yellowfin shortly there after. Working out a bit deeper the OU got into the fish and ended up catching 6 yellowfin, and about 8 dolphin for the rest of the day. All the action was on the troll and the Bars outfished everything today. Lot of cold water moved inshore...had 65 at one point today in 36 fathoms this morning...seems that warmer water is pushing in from offshore hard though..we had it warm up almost 3 degrees in 1 1/2 hours this afternoon. Current was pushing hard SW Tight Lines, Trey
