Joe Melillo, at Castaways Tackle in Point Pleasant, says his regulars are still catching a few very small stripers in the surf However, Jerry Lasko of Point Pleasant gave up on that fishing. He said there were lots of small bass swirling in the Lavallette surf last Tuesday evening, but it's been dead there since then. The surf water temperature is down to 35 degrees.
