First tile trip

by Capt Ted White 8 July 2013
Well we are still hopeful that the blues will soon make an appearance near shore. There have been reports of them well offshore, about 40-50 miles, too far for us. We went 30 miles on Saturday and couldn't find them so we went to a wreck and put together a catch of cod, ling, and Pollack. On Saturday night we left for our first tile trip and it turned out to be a great success. The weather was manageable, pretty close to what was forecast so the drift was good. We put together a very nice catch of golden and blueline tiles ranging from 2-6 lbs mostly. There was a dozen or better in the 8-10 lb range and Norm had the pool winner with one at 18 lbs. We will be running another trip August 4, leaving around midnight. The cost is 300. per person plus tip. We have a limited amount of rod/reel setups so the first come first serve if you do not have a set up for tiles. The trip will be limited to 10 people.
