Captain's Focus

Steady as it goes on the Fluke.

by Capt Ted White 25 August 2013
The fluke fishing is steadily getting to a very good point. This past week we had some very good fishing even with some bad conditions. We had fish on open bottom for the first time which was a big relief. The keeper/short ratio varies day to day but is still pretty good. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday we put together decent catches, today we thought we had all the conditions finally in place, thought we had a handle on some fish, and don't you know it, they didn't bite very good at all ! Well I guess that's fishing and not catching, the fish are here, if you want a crack at them before Mother Nature does something to send them packing, do it now. We have weekdays available for stripers in November, and some dates in Sept. and October for tuna and seabass when that reopens on Sept. 27.
