Posted on September 8, 2021 Sporty sea leads to some Thursday cancellations Capt. Ron Santee said the ocean got nasty this afternoon, when the current changed, and he decided to cancel tomorrow’s trip with the Fishermen from Atlantic Highlands. He’ll be back at it Friday, but the boat is chartered on Saturday. The Golden Eagle from Belmar reported blues were all over the surface early. and fine jigging continued until the wind came up in the afternoon. everyone limited on 3-8-pound blues plus a few larger choppers –but tomorrow morning’s trip is cancelled. Thanks to Chuck Many, Bryan Pieros and Lou Grazioso, my basement was cleared of furniture today. and that will be available along with loads of fishing tackle at Saturday’s garage sale from 8-4 at 1552 Osprey Ct.; Manasquan Park, N.J. I’ve uncovered some jigs I wasn’t aware of, and even have some deep water cod models. A small craft warning is up through Thursday night. West winds at 10-15 knots with gusts to 20 drop to 5 knots in the afternoon. Despite a rough surf this morning, Vinny D’Anton fished sand fleas in the Monmouth County surf and released stripers of 25 and 22 inches.
