Stripers still abundant
Dave Lilly said there so many stripers between the channels that there’s no challenge to it, so he ran down the beach to off the Highlands Bridge to troll for bigger bass. Tony Maja bunker spoons on wire produced “only†six bass for his short effort, but all were from 25 to 40 pounds. The large chrome model with a white weight worked best on a calm day with clear waters.
The Golden Eagle from Belmar reported stripers were hard to hookat first, but a move to the north put them into fish on top that were mostly keepers. Everyone had a striper today.
The Sea Hunter from Atlantic Highlands reported non-stop netting of bass right away that resulted in an early boat limit.
There’s more good weather tomorrow with southwest winds at 10-15 knots before gusting to 30 in the afternoon.
Capt. Hans Kaspersetz is fishing for sailfish in Guatemala where his boat had a grand slam today with a slue marlin and a striped marlin in addition to lots of sails.
