Though the forecast was good, the ocean didn't get the word. Capt. Ron Santee said it was calm at the dock in Atlantic Highlands, but blowing 30 mph when he cleared the Hook. Yet, Santee did find lots of stripers even if almost all were shorts. The bass weren't finicky on jigs, and three anglers each caught over 25 despite the rough seas.He says the forecast is good for the weekend. Let's hope they're right this time.
The Golden Eagle got out from Belmar, but found only one keeper bass in the rough seas.They are looking forward to a 5-to-10-mph forecast for Saturday.
Betty & Nick's Tackle in Seaside Park reported small stripers were caught in Island Beach State Park on both lures and clams.
