Captain's Focus

The hurricane wasn't even close today, but it appears that many anglers were scared off because few boats sailed. The only report I found was from Capt. Stan Zagleski on Elaine B. from Highlands who put his fares into some large fluke in the channels when the drift was right. Jim Lohse of Union boated four up to 5 7/16 pounds where he tied for the pool with Matt Dalton of Mt. Olive. Dave Brink of Middletown had four fluke up to 5 1/8 pounds, and Carol Pierce from Wrightstown bagged a 4 11/16-pounder. Zagleski well be sailing tomorrow. Unless the storm path changes drastically, there's no reason not to fish in bays and rivers. There may be a big swell on the ocean, but that won't bother you in protected waters. Though the Jamaica from Brielle won't sail tomorrow, they are planning to run both Saturday and Saturday night bluefish trips.
