Bob Matthews reports from Fisherman's Den in Belmar Marina that his rental skiffs are ready to go when the winter flounder season opens on March 23. Shark River is often the best place to find flounder when the season opens. The Ocean Explorer, from Belmar Marina, reported cleaner waters Saturday -- and then water temperatures up to 42 degrees on Sunday. A few keeper cod and some shorts were caught over the weekend, along with a few ling, dogfish and congers plus jumbo bergalls. A couple of blackfish were released Saturday, when Jose Reyes jigged two cod and dropped two others.
