Captain's Focus

Grumpy's Tackle in Seaside Park reports it's up to 11 degrees at 5:30 p.m. Just right for some intrepid angler, but not me! I'm off to Pesca Panama on Friday, but local places to keep warm include the Somerset Fly Show -- and, on Saturday, the Salt Water Sportsman Seminar at Long Branch plus the Canyon Runner Seminar in Atlantic City. Bob Matthews, at Fisherman's Den in Belmar Marina reports there was good blackfishing on party boats out of there before the storm, with one weighing over 15 pounds.   Capt. Phil Sciortino Jr. is running his winter Striper School at The Tackle Box in Hazlet along with Capt. Mike Sisto of Jersey Key Charters and Anthony Altobelli. The $300 cost includes a charter trip aboard Jersey Key. Call 732 264-7711 for info and reservations.
