Captain's Focus

July 14th, 2012

Saturday morning we started offshore of the Klondike and picked at small fish. Had four very good drifts jigging. We then ran offshore fishing the east side near monsters ledge. The fish were up to 14 lbs and we were able to catch on bait and jigs & Ava 47's tailed worked great. We held fish on once they started to bite with shots of up to 10-12 on at a time. Our pool winner was a tie between Nikkei Kryneka from Jersey City, NJ and Nelson Quad from Puerto Rico with a 16 lb blue.

Saturday night we headed out to the east again. Had a large crowd on-board but it was still good fishing. Most patrons had 5 fish and unfortunately some had none, but we also had a few limits in the stern. We would hold 10-12 fish on around the boat at all times, sometimes up to 20. High hook on the night had 17 blues only keeping their legal limit. The fish were all in the 8-15 lb range all caught on bait.
