Captain's Focus

June 11th, 2012

Yesterday, Captain Lenny went 22 miles offshore of our inlet. It was super fishing from the get go! We stopped on readings 40 feet thick and the bottom was paved with sand eels with fish swirling on top. Ava 27's, 47's, both plain and tailed, worked excellent along with bananas. There was a big spread of fish with no lack of readings and plenty of fish around. They jigged and chummed all day with the blues ranging from 8-16 lbs. The fishing could not have been any better! Our pool winner was Matt with a 16 lb blue.

Today, Captain Scotty started off where we were yesterday where we had excellent fishing and there were very few readings and no sand eels to be found. We fished for awhile and produced very little, so we ended up traveling 7 miles further and found another area of fish. We found real good readings and lots of bait, but with the SE wind, the fish would'nt cooperate. We had short 15 minute drifts where we had 10-12 fish and others as many as 20-25 fish. High hook had 10 caught all on jigs. With the amount of fish we read and the bait we saw, we would have caught the fish very good if it were'nt for the SE winds. Hopefully tomorrow it will be good again like yesterday. Our pool winner was John Algera with a 13 lb blue.
