I am sitting here chomping at the bit, can't wait to get a rod bent. Some fish are being caught. Stripers, Blues, and even Fluke have been caught. Water temps outside are still in the mid-upper 40s and perhaps 55 inside. Consider this when planning your fishing time. As is usual this time of year, if you are giving it a go in the bay outgoing water is by far the best.
I am a bit surprised by the number of boats in the marina that have yet to begin to get ready for launch. With NJ Fluke season just 1 week away, I would expect to see everyone getting prepped. Is the combination of gas prices and the economy so bad that people have given up on fishing? Still, if the weather is nice you can bet your bottom dollar the Bay will be packed next Saturday on the opener.
