All of the inshore reefs are producing goodly numbers of Seabass and Fluke. This trend should continue through the remainder of the Summer. Here are some things to consider if you want to hit the reefs. First and foremost, weekends will be very crowded. Weekdays are probably a better bet. The Seabass bite is best in the AM hours, so plan on getting to the reef early. Clam bait is a necessity if you want to load up on the humpbacks. On the Fluke side, do not be afraid to experiment. Drifting a Fluke rig with Minnow and Squid is a staple, but not the ONLY way to catch Flounder. Bucktailing produces, on average, larger fish. You can also try live bait fishing and artifiicals for the Fluke. Experiment when the bite is slow. You will be rewared.
By the by, beaches were absolutely packed this holiday weekend. Check out this pic off of Seaside.
