Ran our second shark trip of the year yesterday. Unfortunately, the results were the same as the first trip. Bluefish everywhere. Sharking very slow. Water temps were good this time (67) and there was plenty of bait in the water. Sand Eels were showing thick at 100 ft. Not sure why no sharks. There were a lot of boats in the area (Fingers) so I am sure that did not help. Based on radio chatter nary of shark was caught. So we filled our day pulling in one giant Bluefish after another.
When our chum ran out, we decided to set up on the troll. We saw a very big school of Bluefin first thing in the morning and was hoping to save the day with some tasty eats. It was not to be. After nailing a few more Bluefish on the troll, we pulled the lines and headed to the barn.
We will be focusing on Fluking the next couple of weeks. Ocean temps are on the rise and so should the Fluke bite on the Ocean.
