Captain's Focus

First Catch will launch this year, on April 13.  This is later than usual, but without a Winter Flounder season to speak of, the options for catching have been quite limited.  However, this amazing streak of fine weather we are having is going to help kick-start us for some mighty fine spring fishing.

Stipers are now resident, and the "cows" will begin to show up shortly on the tails of Bunker.  I would expect some tide-runner Weakfish to start being caught in another week or so, and the Bluefish shortly thereafter.

If you happen to get lucky enough to nail a tide ruuner.  Take some pictures and let her go.  The egg laden spawn ready mommas are going to be looking at the west side of the Bay to drop some eggs.  Let nature take its course.  The large Weakfish are not great to eat anyway.  You are much better off with the just legal size for the pan.
