Captain's Focus

It is going to be very tough going (weather wise) for the next few days. We are going to have a serious Nor Easter that will keep EVERYONE in port... even the big boys. Gale force winds and heavy rain, we won't get a break until at least Wed. Bummer too, because LARGE schools of weaks are just off the beach and are sure to be filtering into the bay shortly. It will be tough going for a while for the sparklers though because the bay is sure to be a mess for at least a couple of days after the blow and salinity will need to normalize before they begin to eat. Hopefully, by the end of the week that bite will start in earnest.

For those of you not completely familiar with the fishery, spring is prime time for MONSTER tiderunners. I got this 11.9lb. beauty last year around this time in the middle of a bluefish blitz where I swear it was trying to eat one of the blues (which were running around 3lbs).

To all you Mom's out there -- Happy Mother's Day. You truly are special.
